All newts are salamanders but not all salamanders are newts
Newts as they come out of water after they are breeding they will travel up to 1km to look for food. Some of these yummy eats are worms and beetles. They like to live in damp areas on land. Its main predators of the young newts and the eggs (and a lot of other pond life) are fish. The larger predators such as foxes, grass snakes and herons will eat the adults.
Newts are used as bait for catching fish.
Newts can be trapped and used for bait or pets.
