I want to go over that last tip given by Jack Phillips. He says to really catch some nice catches of walleye we should fish on the grassy edges sunken islands in a walleye pruducing lake. Look for drop offs. Fish seem to hold to this area at different times of the day. Also deeper in this area during the heat of the day and close to the evening. He says he likes to drift slowly over this island from one end to the other. He drops a jig head tipped with a leech or minnow. Of course if you have a fish finder this would make the whole process that much easier to find the fish. He also suggests if you find it windy to use a trolling motor or anchor to keep you in the thick of the walleye action. He also states that in the particular lake he fishes that the heat of summer causes an algae growth that clouds the water and makes for great walleye fishing even in the heat of the day because the water darkens and blocks the sun some what.
